The birthday party was a huge hit!!! I'll post more on that later along with lots of pictures. :)
I did want to share quickly about the concert! Woohoo!!! First, it wasn't completely filled with silver-haired, toe-tapping old folks. It was a mixed crowd and I was quite surprised to see many kids (older teens, young 20's). For instance, the 20-some year old who sat next to me and offered to buy me a beer when Scott went to the bathroom...heh! I could have easily been his mother!
Now about the concert. We had an awesome time. It opened with Styx, and yes, Lauren, while Tommy Shaw was still as cool as ever. But, I was pretty bummed that most of the songs they sang were from the Grand Illusion album, hence not singing any of my favorite Styx songs.
Yet, for all the bummed emotions that I had from Styx, I got the total opposite from REO Speedwagon. THEY TRULY ROCKED!! It was like being back in high school (even some songs from junior high!), but this time with my sweetie! So cool! We had a great time singing at the top of our lungs.
Then, finally, Def Leopard came on stage. They, too, brought back great memories and really rocked the house. I was in awe of their one-armed drummer. It just goes to show that you can do anything you want to do when you set your mind to it. But again, most of their songs were from their Hysteria album, not one of my favorites. All in all, we had an awesome night out.
Something I noticed last night was that it was neat to think back that when I use to go to rock concerts back in the days and everyone would use Bic lighters when the stadiums went dark and they were singing slow songs. Nowadays, they use cell phones. Too funny. Definitely signs of the times.
