and then there was one.....

The LORD God fashioned into a woman the rib which He had taken from the man, and brought her to the man.

The man said,
"This is now bone of my bones,
And flesh of my flesh;
She shall be called Woman,
Because she was taken out of Man."

For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh.
- Genesis 2:22-24

Honey,

Although our anniversary was 2 days ago and I'm just now getting to this, it certainly does not make it any less.

I often get told how "lucky" I am to have you. You know me, I don't believe in luck, but if I did, luck would only be a small part of it.

Our marriage is cemented in God's grace. Love, respect, humility, kindness, selflessness and pure grit make up the rest. We've managed to jump the hurdles, cross the ravines, scramble up the slopes and survive the desert, the three of us. You, me and God. Together.

Babe. thank you for being my best friend all these years. Thank you for your advice and support. Thank you for forgiving me when I didn't listen and for encouraging me when I did. Thank you for being serious when I've needed it, and for using your remarkable humor at times when I never thought I'd smile again. I often tell you that I always feel safest in your arms, especially when the world around me could be crumbling. that's never changed. You always make the bad go away, and although I haven't quite figured out how you do it, you always amplify the good.

Thank you for being an extraordinary father to our children; for greeting them when you walk through the door each night like you haven't seen them in ages; for looking at their artwork like you've just been presented a van Gogh; for listening to Amanda go on endlessly about a movie she saw or about something she did as if it were the first time she was telling you, when indeed it was probably the fifth or sixth; and for making amazing family memories that we will all treasure forever.

Scripture tells us that woman was created from the rib of man and that the two shall become one flesh. I could not feel any more a part of you than those words. My heart and soul are meshed with yours. I am blessed beyond measure to shout to the world that you are my chosen one, my husband, my hero, my dragon-slayer. Yet, it comes so natural and easy for you. I wish you realized how often you astound me.

I love you with all my heart. There's no one in the world I'd rather spend forever with and forever doesn't seem nearly long enough.

XXXOOO,

Your "Rabbit"

Very sweet post, Ohilda. Have you ever heard the song "Flesh of my flesh?" We had a friend sing it at our wedding. It is so beautiful and I'm sure you would love it. Back in the day it was originally recorded by Leon Patillo. You should try to find it. You will love it.

Happy Anniversary!
