"Once our eyes are opened, we cannot pretend we don't know what to do. God, who weighs our hearts and keeps our souls, knows that we know, and holds us responsible to act." Proverbs 24:12

do as I say, not as I do

That seems to be the very clear message from the head of our nation, Barack Obama, who will sign the proclamation but will not be holding any events at the White House as President Bush did every year, while his 8 years in office.

The National Day of Prayer was signed into law in 1952 by President Truman. President Reagan amended the law in 1988 to state that the observances would be held the first Thursday in May.

Our family will absolutely be observing this day and most definitely be praying for the man that is to be leading our country.

I am so very thankful that I have a sovereign Savior who I can and do put my hopes in for real change.

"God who gave us life, gave us liberty. And can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are a gift from God? That they are not to be violated but with His wrath? Indeed I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just, that His justice cannot sleep forever...."

Unfortunately, this doesn't really surprise me, only saddens my heart over the direction of this country.

Blessed is He that trusts in the Lord.

YOU are my hope; O Lord God, You are my confidence. Psalm 71:5

Hey Ohilda, I thought of you when I read this. Feel free to delete this post if you want, but thought I'd pass it on. Very sad.

Paying taxes is another "do as I say and not as I do" for this administration. Tax cheats galore!
