A very proud mother watched as her son, the now famous Florida Gators Quarterback and Heisman trophy winner, Tim Tebow, received the highest award in college football.
What makes this story even more special is that Tim could have easily been a statistic.
Bob and Pam Tebow, moved to the Philippines in 1985 to conduct a Christian missionary outreach. While pregnant with Tim, Pam contracted amoebic dysentery through contaminated drinking water. Her doctor told her that the medications she needed to recover would result in irreversible damage to the child she was carrying. She was advised to have an abortion.
She refused.
For seven months, they harrassed her. “They didn’t recommend; they didn’t really give me a choice,” Tebow said. “That was the only option they gave me.”
She refused.
They told her she and her son would die, she told them that was up to God.
Again, she refused the abortion.
Pam ultimately spent the last two months of her pregnancy in bed. Tim was born healthy and robust in August 1987. His mother described him as "skinny, but rather long." Today he stands six-foot-three, weighs 235 pounds, and has been described as a physical and athletic phenomenon. "We saw the miracle of Timmy’s birth and we continually reminded him, God has a special plan for your life,” Tebow said.
Tim was fortunate to be born into a family that has strong roots in their faith and a deep understanding of the precious gift that each life is not only to them, but also to the world.
His Mom said, "Timmy's God-given talent, hard work, character and leadership have made a mark on and off the football field."
Not only is this young man the recipient of the acclaimed Heisman trophy, but he is the first ever homeschooler to have received it!
But this story just gets better. Tim Tebow will someday make a young girl a very proud wife. This young man has put his faith and moral character before the pressure of the polluted world we live in.
This week during SEC Media Days interviews, Tim shocked a roomful of reporters when he responded to one simple and very honest answer, "Yes, I am!" The question? See the video below!

Way to go, Tim! What a way to glorify God and make your parents proud, and be a shining role model to so many fans!

GREAT ROLL MODEL! Thanks for posting this...what an amazing story, with a beautiful outcome...and the best part is...that his story is still to be continued! Yes indeed, God has BIG plans for this young man...and some very blessed young lady one day! :) AWESOME TESTIMONY!!
Well - (disclaimer - when I took a look at this comment I didn't want ANY room for misunderstanding - this is said with no disrespect to my boys - I'm as proud of them as any dad could be)as a dad I'd be happy to claim Tim as a son! He is, in fact, a man with all the rights and responsibilities afforded by use of that term! He's also an example of what a role model should be!!
Thanks for a day brightener there O! hugs - aus and co.
"HE" is the ONLY reason why I can say (as a TRUE DAWG FAN!) the Gators are... *ahem* alright! lol!
He is a Great young man!
What a beautiful, amazing story!!! (And yes, feel free to copy whatever you would like from my blog post on health care. I copied it with permission from American Family Assoc., that sent it to me in email form. I did tweak a few things, but I don't think they would mind. :)
EXCELLENT!
I just LOVE this!
As parents who do not send their girls to school, as parents who not only advocate purity but go the million miles to help assure it and who encourage other parents to take the steps necessary to guide and protect their children, you have blessed us with this post. We often feel like we are just blowing in the wind all alone. It is spirit lifting to see this young man's response not just his voiced response but the response in his eyes!
Thanks.
